第2位：ビヨンセのコーチェラHomecoming映画&ダンス現象を巻き起こした#BeforeILetGo Challenge! (2019年Hip-Hop名曲名場面ベスト50)

2019年4月，ファンを驚かせたのは，2018年の米国最大のミュージックフェスと云われるコーチェラ音楽祭（Coachella Music Festival）で披露されたビヨンセのステージが，Netflix映画でよみがえったことでした。ジェイＺとカニエが云うまさに“Black Excellence”を象るかのように，物凄い迫力です。

以下はそのtrailer（予告編）です。

さて，映画と同時にリリースされたのがライヴ・アルバムで，アルバム収録楽曲中に「Before I Let Go」も収録されておりました。この曲のオリジナルはフランキー・ベヴァリー（Frankie Beverly）原曲で，1981年リリース，コーチェラでビヨンセが同曲をカバーしました。

ビヨンセがコーチェラでこの曲をカバーし，2019年Netflix映画で生き返らせたことにより，全米女子及び男子がたちまちSNS等で「#BeforeILetGoChallenge」とハッシュタグし，各人それぞれの媒体（medium）にアップしていくという社会現象が起こりました。

とびきり上手いのを５つ，ピックアップしておきます。2019年春〜夏は，これで盛り上がりました。

大学のキャンパスで，というパターンは多くありました。

タイムズスクエアど真ん中にやらかした連中もいました（↓）。

しかしながら，2019年ビヨンセの活躍はこれだけでなく，映画『ライオン・キング』の声優もやり遂げ，同映画のサウンドトラック制作にもたずさわりました。

また，オバマ大統領夫妻のお気に入り曲としても，同サントラから楽曲「MOOD 4 EVA」がリストアップもされました。

元ネタの曲を知る③：ジェイＺ⇄ローズ・ロイス⇄ビヨンセ

前回はジェイＺの名曲「Song Cry」の元ネタとなっている１９７６年の曲を紹介いたしました。

引き続いてジェイＺの曲です。
ジェイの隠れた傑作である「Wishing On A Star」（１９９８年３月１１日リリース）という曲を紹介します。「隠れた」というのは米国で公式にリリースされたジェイＺのアルバムには，この曲は収録されたことがないからです。現時点（２０１８年９月時点）では，月額サービスのApple Musicでも聴くことはできません。

もともとこの曲は，ジェイＺのアルバム『In My Lifetime Vol.1』のUK（英国）盤のボーナストラックとして収録されました。その後，日本では，ジェイＺの『Chapter One: Greatest Hits』（２００２年リリース盤）に収録され，聴くことができます。

ジェイＺはこの曲を１９９８年にリリースしましたが，その６年後，２００４年にビヨンセが同曲をカバーしました。

元ネタは，１９７８年にリリースされたローズ・ロイス（Rose Royce）という女性歌手の曲です。１９７８年の曲がこうして，２０年の年月を経て，ジェイＺにサンプリングされたことがよみがえり，その６年後にビヨンセがカバーしました。

まさにこれがヒップホップの醍醐味のひとつであります。古い曲が現代に“真新しく”よみがえり，これを聴いている老若男女が「おおもとの曲（元ネタの曲）」を探しに行く，また，探したくなる，見つけて，聴きたくなる，という欲を掻き立ててくれるものだと感じております。そうなると，たまらなくおもしろいです。
