ついにやって来ました。
数回のアルバムリリース日を遅らせた後の確定日ということで，今週金曜日10月25日に『Jesus Is King』はリリースされます。

10月21日，カニエ・ウェストは９ヶ月ぶりにtwitterをして，そのツイート上で，アルバムリリース日を発表いたしました。

10月25日はカニエ・ウェストのミュージックドキュメンタリー映画同名『Jesus Is King』の上映公開日でもあります。映画とアルバムを世界同時リリースとなる予定です。映画のジャケは以前当サイトでも紹介いたしましたが，こちらです。

『Jesus Is King』なるお題目で，いかにもクリスチャン的で，タイトルだけ見ればなにか近寄りがたい雰囲気がありますが，なんのことあれ，キリスト教を信じていない人がどれだけ多くこのアルバムを楽しみにしていることか。お題目はジーザスなんて言っちゃっていますが，これはゴスペル，つまり，音楽そのものを思う存分に楽しむためのアルバムであります。ひとまずキリスト教のことは一切考えず，先入観はこの際取り払って聴いてみていただければと思います。

とか言いながら，先週末（10月18日（金））の夜にジャマイカのキングストン市で開催されたSunday Service中に，カニエはいきなりスマホを取り出して，ケータイを見ます。何をやっているのかと思うと，その5秒後くらいに，バイブル（聖書）の一節を声に出して読み始めます。カニエはこう詠みます。

この“Repent, and believe in the gospel”という文は「悔い改め，福音を信じなさい」と聖書では訳されますが，これを口語で英語で言うとき，以下のニュアンスが入ります。つまり，聖書さえも読めないような罪深いとされる一般人（つまり普通の人，われわれのこと）にはこう聞こえます。

「しっかり反省して，ゴスペル（天の歌）を信じなさい」

それだけしていれば，大丈夫だと。つまり，たとえ頭が悪くて，いままで悪いことやって生きてきたとしても，無知ながらにちゃんと考えて，天のうたを歌えばいい，それさえすれば，なんとかやっていけるんだと。

こういう生きる根っこにあるものは，カニエの場合，歌（gospel）なのだということが感じ取れます。

非常に基本的なことですが，非常に重要なことを教えてくれる気がしました。

アメリカには「歴史的黒人大学（HBCU=Historically Black Colleges and Universities)」という言葉があります。ハワード大学（Howard University）はその中でも名門と呼ばれる大学です。土曜日の“Sunday Service”ですが，そのハワード大学にカニエが登場しました。

そしてなんと，カニエ・ウェストは2003年にも同大学でライヴを開催していました。2003年といえば，16年前，まだデビューアルバムさえもリリースしていなかった頃です。まだアルバムを1枚も出していなかった頃！（カニエにもそんな時代があったのです。）その貴重な映像が以下です。なにせ16年前の映像ですので，映像クオリティの悪さには悪しからず。（カニエ・ウェスト，2003年ハワード大学にて。）

妻キム・カーダシアンのインスタグラム・ストーリーにて，カニエ・ウェストの新盤『Jesus Is King』は明日29日（日）にリリースされる，と発表がありました。

（「カニエ・ウェストは28日（土）にシカゴで新作のリスニングセッションを実施し，29日（日）にはニューヨークでリスニングセッションを実施予定。そして同日29日（日）にアルバム『Jesus Is King』をリリースします。」と書かれております。）

なお，以下のインスタグラム・ストーリーでは，10月にカニエ・ウェストのミュージックドキュメンタリー映画『Jesus is Lord』がIMAXにて上映開始されると発表されました。

キム・カーダシアンのツイッターでは，ニューアルバム『Jesus Is King』のトラックリストが発表されました。前回発表されたものからは少し改訂されています。この「改訂していく」というのも，カニエの仕事に対する態度でカニエによく見られる傾向です。カニエは過去に一度アルバムに収録してすでに発表した楽曲のビートを後に改訂したことがありました。「たとえアルバムに収録された曲でも，さらに良いものにし続ける態度」というのはカニエの傾向です。

また，以下に，昨日27日（金）にカニエ・ウェストがデトロイトで行った特別の“Sunday Service”ならぬ“Friday Service”のストリーミングを掲載しておきます。題して「Jesus is King: A Kanye West Experience（邦題：ジーザスはキング：カニエ・ウェスト体験）」。タイムライン16:40では，パパ（カニエ）の横で跳びはねて踊る娘（ノース）も映ります。なお，これはストリーミングですので，一定期間を過ぎますとリンクが消えます。（映像が見られなくなります。）

なお，先ほど映画『Jesus Is King: A Kanye West Film』（一部報道では『Jesus Is Lord』となっておりましたが，『Jesus Is King』だそうです）は来月10月25日（金）にIMAXにて上映開始されると発表がありました。以下がそのカバーアートです。

映画の内容はこれまでの“Sunday Service”の模様がたっぷりと流される予定だそうです。しかしそれだけでは終わりません。セットは大自然そのまんまの“RODEN CRATER”（現代美術家ジェームズ・タレルの大作です！）で撮影される（た）そうです。
